The final book in the Story of Us All Trilogy, Red, brings to a conclusion the three tales of Nothing Man and Firebird, the pilgrim (Black in Black, White in White, Red in Red) of The Divine Chaos, and Faust, as all characters search for and finally find The Eye.
Told in a surrealist style which the author terms chaos riddle prose, not only is language distorted, but the process of inversion extends to the narrative and themes of the stories.
Based on classic Christian European literature - Eschenbach's Parcival, Dante's Divine Comedy, and the Faust legend, especially Goethe's version - The Story of Us All flips the philosophical viewpoint of these stories upside down.
Combining epic fantasy, the bizarre and occult, suspense, and autobiographical psychological drama, the three narratives come to a climax in Red.
The first two books in the trilogy, Black and White, are available in the three formats as well.
Below is a sample from the book and below the text are paintings by Eric Fiazi used in the interior of the book (full color and large format) ~

Red ... who in the previous book was called White ... and the book
before that Black ... Black for Black: Book One of The Story of Us All
Trilogy ... White for White: Book Two of The Story of Us All
Trilogy ... who is this author Derek Hunter ... a portion of him ... the
portion you find here ... which is not all ... a part of his soul ... was
falling through space ... falling ... falling ... falling ... just like he was
when he last saw Spare ... as Spare went floating through space
towards the blue planet ... Earth. ... White ... now Red ... was floating
through space towards the red planet ... Mars. ... Red was getting
closer ... closer ... closer to the red planet. ... It was amazing how fast
he was going ... Red thought to himself ... and yet also it didn’t feel as
if he was going that fast either. ... He could somehow breathe in
space too. ... He’d gotten used to the inexplicable ... the unusual ...
the seemingly impossible ... through all his adventures he’d had in the
Divine Chaos with Austin Osman Spare. ... But now he was alone. ...
No more Spare. ... No more guide ... no more mentor ... no more
protector ... to show him the way. ... He was now left alone to his own
defenses ... his own means for survival. ... As he floated through space
towards Mars ... he thought about a lot of things ... some were ... how
was he going to survive without Spare? ... Spare had done so much
for him the entire time he was in The Divine Chaos ... what would he
do in situations without him? ... Spare always had the answers ... no
matter where they went ... who they came across ... nor how dire the
circumstances seemed to be. ... He’d have to figure out a way ...
somehow. ... And also ... was he even in The Divine Chaos
anymore? ... Had he left it when he and Spare leapt into space ...
leaving behind Choronzon and his crazy followers? ... Or was he still
in The Divine Chaos? ... Something made Red feel he still was within
it ... for his goal had still not been reached ... to find The Eye. ... He
still had no idea what The Eye even was ... or where to find it. ...
Spare seemed to indicate that The Eye would be on Mars ... and thus
why Red was going to the red planet. ... That was about all he had to
go on. ... Would there be people on Mars? ... Humans? ... Human
colonists? ... Aliens? ... Spirit creatures? ... Demons? ... Dead Souls
like in The Divine Chaos ... what he already experienced with Spare ...
who was himself a dead soul? ... He had no idea. ... He was grateful
that he could breathe in space ... seemed unaffected by the
radioactivity from the sun ... by other things in space. ... For as he
was getting closer to the red planet he knew that Mars had no
atmosphere for him to breathe on. ... Apparently he would be OK
with that. ... And now he was getting much, much closer to Mars. ...
He wondered about how things would be as he got closer and closer
to the planet. ... He didn’t think he would get burnt up as he entered
the atmosphere as he would if entering Earth’s atmosphere. ... Mars
didn’t have an atmosphere right? ... Red wished he knew more about
astronomy ... in fact he knew very very little about what goes on in
space. ... He knew of the other planets in the solar system ...
Mercury ... Venus ... Earth ... Mars ... next there was Saturn ...
Jupiter ... Uranus ... Neptune ... what else or was that it? ... Pluto was
no longer a planet and the larger planets such as Jupiter and Saturn
had enormous moons that perhaps might even support life ... that the
large planets were gaseous ... Mars was somewhat similar to Earth
and may at one time have supported life. ... It certainly used to have
water on it ... but now as he hurled closer and closer to the red planet
he saw no bodies of water ... just arid red dirt ... mountains ... valleys ...
some larger than any on Earth. ... Seeing more of the details of the
red planet made it seem beautiful ... not that it wasn’t beautiful from a
distance ... but as he came closer to it ... made it seem more real and
tangible ... as he also looked for signs of life ... human colonies ...
space colonization of any kind ... perhaps even aliens ... but saw
nothing. ... All he saw as he got closer was that it was a beautiful red
landscape. ... Immense in grandeur ... spectacular really ... he loved
it ... even had a bizarre feeling of returning home ... what that was ...
that feeling ... where it came from ... or why he felt it ... he was
dumbfounded but felt it he did. ... As he got closer to the highest
peaks ... the tallest mountains ... it dawned on him how was he going
to land? ... He had no parachute ... he had no wings nor anything else
to utilize to slow his descent towards the rough Martian terrain. ...
Shit. ... What was he going to do? ... Then suddenly something
happened. ... Red armor ... exactly the same that Nothing Man and
Firebird wore in the previous chapter ... grew on top of Red’s skin ...
so that his body was protected by the red armor and his head
protected by a helmet. ... There also appeared the sword in one hand
and shield in the other. ... Ok ... interesting ... Red thought to
himself. ... Was this Spare’s doing? ... he thought to himself. ... But
Spare was no longer around. ... How this armor, sword and shield got
here who knows ... but more importantly ... would it help in any way
with the landing he was about to do? ... He was getting insanely close
to the planet. ... Any minute he would land ... or crash. ... As he got
closer ... he saw some land that was flat ... a plain. ... That’s where he
should land ... not the mountains next to it. ... Could he help himself
by guiding himself ... flying like Superman ... in the direction he
needed to go? ... It wouldn’t hurt to try. ... He positioned himself like
Superman ... difficult at first due to the armor ... but eventually was
able to do it ... hands straight ahead ... pointing in the direction he
wanted to go ... his body flat ... face forward ... back straight ... legs
straight ... feet with toes pointing in the back. ... It seemed to work ...
as he maneuvered his body one way ... or the other. ... Part of the
mountain ... a cliff ... was coming up ahead ... he had to move to the
left a bit ... Oh! ... That was close! ... Too close ... as he sailed past
the cliff ... he didn’t realize how fast he was going! ... Oh shit! ... He
was coming up on the spot he wanted to land on ... but ... but wait ...
how was he going to land? ... If he kept going as he was ... he’d smash
face first into the ground. ... That he didn’t want to do. ... What
then? ... He’d better think quick! ... Ok ... ok ... turn around ... land
feet first ... not face first. ... It was difficult to twist his body around as
he flew downwards ... but he had to ... he was about to land! ... Oh
shit! ... There’s the ground! ... Come on! ... Come on ... move! ...
And just as he was about to hit the ground ... he twisted his feet
forward ... rolling and rolling forward ... tumbling forward ... rolling
and rolling forward ... tumbling and tumbling ... banging his armor ...
his body ... against the ground again and again.
- Ouch! ... Ow! ... Ow! ... Ow! ... Fuck! ... Damnit!
Until eventually he stopped ... and passed out.
